Tenacious
and well-organized, Alan Morgan has been providing construction,
construction management, estimating, and design services
on a wide variety of private and public projects during
all phases of programming, design and construction since
1978. As a Senior Project Manager with construction giant
F. N. Thompson for five years, Morgan honed his skills
in the management of complex commercial and institutional
construction projects such as the new ESPN Studios at
Ballantyne and the new Charlotte Museum of History facility
on Shamrock Drive. Together with partner Lisa Lee, Morgan
has built LMI from 2 employees to 9 in four years, with
revenue growth from $155,000 in 1999 to $3.5 million in
2004. As President of LMI, Morgan is responsible for guiding
the company’s corporate affairs and construction operations,
ensuring the estimates are prepared with sharp pencils
and the jobs are run safely and with a keen eye on quality
and schedule. His attention to detail and open, honest
approach to project administration and supervision has
promoted strong relationships with owners, architects,
subcontractors, and suppliers alike.
LISA
LEE MORGAN

Creative
and analytical, Lisa Lee Morgan has been a licensed architect
since 1983. A graduate of Princeton University with both
a BA and Master of Architecture, she was an early protégé
of architect Michael Graves. Her interests later widened
to involve many projects for historic landmarks and their
associated buildings. Lisa Lee was the architect for the
Historic Restoration of the American Museum of Natural
History in New York. Since returning to Charlotte in 1995,
she has used her expertise to lead the preservation effort
for the Carolina Theatre, to promote architectural history
and heritage in our region and adaptive re-use of infill
buildings and sites in the urban core, and to develop
profitable techniques for projects employing “smart growth” parameters. Ms. Morgan is responsible for all business
development for LMI, and also directs the LMI historic
restoration team. She has performed assessments of historic
landmark structures for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic
Landmarks Commission, the Charlotte Museum of History
and Johnson C. Smith University.

Determined
and dependable, Carol Pickens has been managing building
construction since 1990. A native of Michigan, Carol was
born to parents from North Carolina’s Lumbee Indian Tribe.
As a construction Project Manager for both Iafrate and
Brencal, large established general contractors in the
Detroit area, she developed the tough skills needed to
drive a project from estimate to close-out, through an
obstacle course of complex construction circumstances.
Carol returned to her North Carolina roots in 2002, joining
LMI as a Project Manager. She spearheaded LMI’s drive
into the high-rise corporate upfit sector, and has managed
multiple projects for primary clients such as Wachovia
Corporation, Carolinas Healthcare System, and Childress
Klein Properties. Named Vice President in 2005, Carol
consistently demonstrates her ability to cause “transformation” on our projects and a dedication to the Vitruvian Principles.
